Only two more rounds to go...

Here's round 6 of the Teresa Wentzler round robin. This one belongs to Autumn and it's looking really lovely.

We've had a trip to the vet today and now have a very frustrated cat. Polo came home this morning with a damaged leg. She woke me up trying to get in the cat flap - poor thing - she couldn't put any weight on her leg to jump through. She's torn the ligaments in her left back knee and needs total rest for a couple of weeks. If that doesn't work she'll need surgery. So, we've hired a pet cage and she's shut in it in the middle of the living room with a jumper, kitty litter, food and water. It's supposed to stop her moving about too much but she's being very vocal about her displeasure! She's been crying and clawing at the cage for hours and must be in pain and exhausted, but she just won't settle down and go to sleep. We feel so mean. Any suggestions for how to quiet a normally active cat would be much appreciated!

  3. Poor kitty. Any over-the-counter sedative you could give her to help her calm down?

  4. Umm, how about Whiskers soaked in Whisky??? I'm not serious, and definitely joking ;) Poor wee Polo, though, I feel really sorry for the poor thing being in solitary confinement ... as far as 'useful' tips, though, unfortunately I don't have any ... as Karen mentioned, perhaps the vet has something that can be prescribed? {{hugs to Polo - and to Mum}}

  5. poor baby...
    nothing is worse than a confined unhappy animal..
    i would echo the advice of asking the vet, there must be some natural/homeopathic calmative for distressed animals..
    it needs to be sorted or no healing will take place whilst there is all the stress

    big hugs to all of you

  6. The RR looks good Nicki.

    Poor Polo. I don't suppose she likes catnip? That works for one of my cats when she gets stressed from the fireworks. Perhaps some catnip leaves, catnip toy, or some of the catnip milk drops might just calm her down.

  7. The RR looks beautiful!
    Poor Polo! Maybe the vet could prescribe some kitty tranquilizers? You don't want to give cats people medicine; it works on dogs, but cats metabolize it differently, and it could really hurt her.

  8. Poor, poor kitty! As some your previous commenters already suggested, I'd probably use something to calm her down and prevent her from hurting herself further.

    That RR is gorgeous :)

  9. I like the "soaked in Whiskey" suggestion but since I know it's stressing you out you should probably take a slug of just the whiskey part yourself. What about some baby benedril from an eyedropper? The RR looks great and I know Autumn will be estatic to get it back.

  11. Poor Polo! That is so hard on them when you have to keep them from doing what they normally do. I hope that possibly the vet can advise you on what to do to calm her down. Your RR is looking beautiful!
