Last of the redwork!

(For the time being anyway! I'll definitely be doing more redwork before too long)

This is the exchange piece (or pieces) I stitched for Cathy in the redwork exchange. It's Secret Garden by Blackbird Designs and it's stitched on 32ct Light Sand linen with a Needle Necessities thread I had in my stash (it's a similar colour to the recommended Weeks thread). The box is a strong red cardboard one I found in a craft store that I lined with red fabric.

I'll definitely do this again for myself, although I might stitch the strawberry over one - it's quite big! I had such a hard time getting the stitching to fit right on the box top and I wasn't entirely happy with it. Cathy seemed to like it though!

Lastly, a cat update. Thanks for those who've asked how Polo is. She had her weekly vet check this morning and the knee is not as damaged as it was but it's still way too flexible to be normal. So it's another week in the spare room at least. She's relatively happy though and being very good. And, we got their blood tests back and they have high levels of rabies antibodies so they are fit to travel back to the UK - although not for 6 months. We have a provisional moving date of the first week of April!

  6. Beautiful! You do such gorgeous stitching. I am so glad you stitched the strawberry too, it's the first one I've seen. Good tip on stitching it over 1 though. Glad you've had a lot of receiving this week, as you spend so much time giving. You deserve it!

  8. Wow! Good work! I love the finishing on that box, I could never do that, I'm terrible at finishing.
And, that strawberry is the most adorable thing I've ever seen.
Shame I'm on a no stash diet this month... *le sigh*

Glad to hear Polo is on the mend. Will he have to go into quarantine when you get back to England? How wonderful for you that you'll be moving back in the not too distant future.

  14. Beautiful box and strawberry you did for Cathy - and the finishing is fine ... we really do worry for nothing don't we? It all looks wonderful :D And the needleroll you did for Katrina is just stunning - it's hard to choose a 'different' design for the queen of needlerolls, and yours was awesome :D I've really enjoyed these exchanges, both the giving and receiving :D I might be kicking myself soon for pulling out of the SBEBB haha.
