Two gifts received!

Two more of my birthday gifts have been received! First up, here's the heart I stitched for Karen. It's a design from the De fil en aiguille magazine that Isabelle sent me last year and I stitched it on 36ct Vintage Examplar from Lakeside Linens with one of the threads Isabelle sent. Thank you Isabelle! I finished it off with ruched ribbon (I took some photos of the ribbon stage so I'll pop a tutorial up soon).

And Becky received her gift too - a pinkeep stitched with the Early America freebie from Little House Needleworks. This one is done over one on 28ct Light Sand Cashel using Crescent Colors threads. You can see the backing fabric I used for both gifts in the pinkeep photo.

These are projects 15 and 16 in my 15 project challenge, so I'm getting there slowly!

I may not be able to update quite as often for a while as one of our computers has died. Just what we don't need expense-wise, but at least we're not so busy working that we need two computers right now. It does mean though that we really can't afford our holiday to Melbourne. We'll be using our air miles to visit my brother in Wellington instead.

  1. You did a lovely job on both gifts, Nicki! I'm sorry to hear about your computer. Bad timing, but at least you will get some sort of holiday. Do you have an estimated moving date yet? Or a moving month, at least? :)

  10. I've just been admiring the heart on Karen's blog! You made a super job of it. I'm looking forward to hearing about the ruched edging, I was just wondering how you did that, lol.

I'll have to keep an eye open for the French mags if they've got such lovely designs in!

  20. Nikki, the ruched ribbons on the heart ornaments is lovely, neat and very well done and I hope you will post a tutorial soon so that i can learn to make it too. I always fumbled with it and have not the guts to send out one with my poor finishing. LOL.
