Apple Brown Bindy

A couple of progress pictures. The first is Their Song. I'm only stitching this on the train journey to and from work and an odd hour here and there, so not much time to do it, but it's still growing slowly.

Which reminds me, I meant to ask if anyone else stitches in public? Do you get comments? I do! I've had two different people strike up conversations on the train - very unusual for us reserved British!

And here's a second progress picture. Something new. Oops! I've been wanting to do this for ages but couldn't decide on a fabric. It's Mirabilia's Autumn in My Garden stitched over one and it's on the same 30ct Apple Brown Bindy as Their Song. It just struck me one day that it might work and I'm very pleased so far.

  1. AimG is looking fantastic, Nicki! I'm so looking forward to seeing more... please keep stitching! ;-) Drat, I'd pretty much decided to go with over-2 on 40-count, but now I don't know anymore... Hmmm....

I love Their Song too - beautiful colours.

  2. Apple Brown Bindy will be perfect for Autumn in my Garden! Looking forward to watching your progress.

Their song is coming along nicely. I don't stitch in public (there's not enough room on the bus!)

  3. Very nice WIP's. I really like Their Song!

I stitch and knit in public, but I must admit that I hardly ever see anyone else doing it!!! It makes me feel like those little spots of time aren't being wasted, like waiting for the kids to come out of school (3 kids, 3 different times!)

  4. I love Their Song! People chat with me all the time on the train about my needlework. :-) It's about the only time I ever talk on the train.

  5. I stitch in public if the kids aren't with me. Particularly when waiting for the GYN appointments ... I receive mixed comments - some people are really disparaging, which surprises me (did no one else's Grandmother teach them 'if you have nothing nice to say, say nothing'?) and other people are positive. Mostly, though, I just get stares. LOL.

Love the apple brown bindy linen. What a scrumptious color!!

  6. Yes I stitch in public too and get comments LOL! Love your Mirabillia, I have that one, and Spring and Summer to do, I love the idea of stitching it over 1 - just lovely.

  7. I cannot stitch in public; usually my projects are too big to be portable and I take up too much space when I stitch.

Your WIPs look great; I love watching your progress.

  9. Love both your WIPs and I'm looking forward to seeing more on both of them.

I've stitched in hospital waiting rooms before now but really had any comments about it!

  10. Both are looking very pretty!

I've stitched in airports and airplanes and in our car in parking lots. No one has ever commented but they do look. It's just not something you see very often. At least I've never seen anyone else stitching in public!

I occasionally stitch (or knit) in public, but I never get any comments. :(

  13. Great idea to stitch AitG over-one - it's looking great already! As for stitching in public, the only time I do it is at airports to help kill the time - other than that it's a 'strictly at home' thing. I even feel odd about stitching when I go visiting, but will do it very occasionally. My problem is that I can't stitch in hand, and hoops make my hand cramp up ... so it's not as portable with scroll bars etc. I did stitch in the waiting room waiting to have my gallbladder removed, and another lady came to sit beside and discuss her granny's stitching - it was quite nice :)

  14. I love Their Song. I have it to stitch in the new year. The fabric looks lovely. I sometimes stitch in the car when I'm waiting for E at some after school thing or another and if people notice they are always interested. I would love to start up a sewing bee around here, it's such a sociable thing to do. I can imagine lots of us stitching or knitting away in the corner of a pub!

  15. Great progress on both pieces.

I don't stitch in public and come to think of it I've never seen anyone else either!

  16. I do stitch in public sometimes and it tends to draw looks, comments to me or about me, etc. Depends on who's around.
