A cake, two starts and a finish
Thank you for all the birthday wishes. I did have a lovely day - helped by the delicious coffee cake Martin got from the farmer's market:
I also had a bit of a starting splurge... You've seen Cappuccino. Well, here's Random Thoughts - started as my two motifs a week piece last Saturday.
And here's Blackbird Designs' Secret Garden. I couldn't resist trying one of those birthday skeins so I chose one from Barbara that I'd never heard of before. It's coming out really well on this 36ct Pipi fabric.
And for the finish - Barbara's winter exchange piece shot over the Channel and arrived within 2 working days. Here's Winter Welcome from Country Cottage Needleworks, also stitched on Pipi but 32ct this time.
Some of you may realise I stitched the same thing for Barbara as Sue stitched for me. It worked out so well. I was halfway through Barbara's piece when Sue's arrived and as I really like the design but I'm not keen on stitching something twice it couldn't have been better!

Your new starts are just great, Nicki!!!
ReplyDeleteHow cool that you stitched the same design you received :) That has happened to me once or twice and I too was happy to receive it as I really loved the design and wanted to stitch it for myself :) Yours turned out really lovely! Congratulations!
Have a great weekend :)
Happy FORTY-ISH birthday! I LOL! When I saw your cake! :)

ReplyDeleteI really like your start on Random thoughts - I can tell that as you progress on this piece I am going to be enabled to add it to my stash - you have a knack for making me look again at pieces I have dismissed or missed in the past. The stashing is never over!
