A strawberry patch strawberry

The third wish I've stitched for the Make a Wish BB has arrived safely! Susan wished for a strawberry, so I stitched the main bit of Sweetheart Tree's Strawberry Patch needleroll for her.

It's on 32ct Summer Khaki and I used a Mill Hill treasure in the middle instead of the Sweetheart Tree one. I'd do the ribbon a bit differently in the middle if I did it again. I wasn't sure how to fix it and looking at some others since (these seem to be the in thing) I'd do a loop or two on top. Still, I was pleased with how it came out and there's a little charm in there too.

I must say - I loved doing this. I had no idea the Sweetheart Tree needlerolls were so pretty. I've had a few in my stash for several years (they're some of the charts that got missed off the stash list a while ago) but I've never got round to doing them. If I'd known how well they stitched up.... I think doing them on a slightly coloured linen rather than white helps and this is going to get stitched again for myself asap!

P.S. A picture for Rowen and anyone else wanting kitty pictures! Three cosy cats. Trevor moved, so he's a little fuzzy!

  6. I said the same thing to Karen at Dragonfly Dreams - if Sweetheart Tree just offered a piccie on their charts the sales would soar! The strawberry needleroll is my favourite one of the lot - just adore the red on that fabric (yeah, I know, I adore it and it's not blue!! haha). Your wee strawberry turned out beautifully! :D (I'm just loving seeing the new addition to the kitty family too!)

  12. Oh, what a beautiful strawberry! I love Sweetheart Tree designs. I rather like your topper too.

It looks like you'd never have chilly toes at your house; cats make such great bedwarmers.

  13. Very pretty Nicki and I like its little top knot of ribbons just the way it is :-)) Trevor does look totally at home, my Mum has just been adopted too by Benny, funny how you are both doing the same, she has two cats now and three dogs. Tabitha (original puss) is not keen on Benny and keeps spitting and growling at him when they pass but the dogs are fine. Fun, fun, fun :-)))
