Redecorating almost done

There are still a few things to do, but it's almost there. I had the old look for a long time - it was time for a change!

I'm glad you like the 'additional cat hair' bit - Lulu, being extra fluffy and medium haired, is particularly generous in providing black fur to include in my stitching. It's a nightmare stitching anything white, especially as nine times out of ten she's on my lap!

I've been stitching white this week - working on my Sampler Stocking. I'll share a photo of that in a day or so. Today it's the turn of Shores.

I've been happily stitching on block 2 but have a wee problem with the DMC conversions. The conversions on the block 2 page aren't all the same as those on the page with the master list. I've been using the master list conversions, but am going to have to re-think the fish. As you can see, the second colour is far too close, and darker than, the first colour. Out it needs to come.

I've also been admiring sampler walls on people's blogs. It got me wanting to stitch more samplers, so here's another new start - Green Tree by Carriage House Samplings (it's a complete coincidence all my latest starts are by CHS!)

It's on 36ct Haystack from Countrystitch - I'd forgotten how lovely their fabrics are to use.

I have my eye on a few more starts too - I seem to be making up for lack of starts last year!

P.S. If anyone has a sampler wall, or can point me in the direction of someone with one, leave a comment. I'm still looking for more inspiration!

  1. They are both beautiful WIPs! Lovely colours and wonderful fabrics you've chosen! I've been admiring sampler walls as well, but I guess I'll make an Eiffel Tower wall instead :)

I love the CHS designs too and am waiting eagerly for the Autumn at Hawk Run Hollow.

  3. Pretty work; love the seaweed!

To Lennu, an Eiffel Tower Wall!! That would be something! I recently saw a nice quaker one; maybe it was Jardin Privé?

    Great progress Nicki!

I have a couple of "sampler wall" pictures on my blog if you're interested (although you've probably seen them before); one's at March 19th 2009 and one at September 15th 2008. I did have one of our bedroom wall somewhere, but can't find it (might have been on an old blog). You might inspire me to snap a picture later maybe...

  5. Gotta love CHS. I'm with you about the colors on the fish. They are much too close.

  7. Your blog looks great, Nicki! WOW! And since I am a HUGE CHS fan, I am tickled to bits with your current projects!

  8. I would definitely go by the list for each of the blocks, rather than the master list. I'm pretty sure it says something on the master list about the symbols not being the same on that list as the other pages.

I've been thinking about having a sampler wall, and would love some inspiration, too, so I'll be checking back to see what kind of links you get!

  9. Great progress on Block 2! It's going to be awhile before I can get back to mine. Love your other WIP too - CHS designs are just fabulous. I think I need a sampler wall too - someday!!

  12. Shores is coming on nicely - I am having a few issues with the DMC colours too but not started that big fish yet so will bear in mind your experience. I like the blog redesign!

  20. Your shores is looking great! That's the trouble with conversions, they're never the same as the original colours. Hope you figure out what colour to use insead!

    Great new start!

  21. Great new blog look! Lovely stitching, too. I just love CHS designs and am itching to start a whole bunch. I'm debating with myself to just give in and start or try to be strong and stick with my current WIPs. Good luck with the conversion!

Sampler walls... have you looked at Melissa's latest posts on her blog, Words and Blooms? Of course, there's Carol at Sampler Farm (http://community.webshots.com/user/SamplerFarmer), too. I have compilations of samplers on my walls but not a dedicated wall per se.
